Night fishing on Koh Chang, Thailand, is an incomparable pleasure. If you’re a digital nomad working from Koh Chang, you should try this at least once. You might not catch a single fish, but you’ll gain a wealth of unforgettable impressions.
Night fishing runs daily from 18:00 to 23:00. You can buy tickets at any tourist bureau scattered across the island – perfect for when you need a break from your laptop!
Using GPS, the boat travels far from shore in pitch darkness for 1.5 hours. The experienced captain and his friendly crew use sonar to search for schools of fish or squid.
They feed you on the way – a great chance to network with other travelers and maybe even potential clients!
Then the boat stops, turning off the engine completely. The crew hands out spinning rods, and everyone settles along the port and starboard to fish. Complete silence falls – a rare treat for those of us used to the constant hum of technology.
About 20 minutes later, a joyful cry breaks out from one of the participants. They’ve caught something! The excitement is contagious, and the whole boat fills with cheers.
The fish caught was small, but the fun was enormous. The boat moved several times in search of fish or squid.
I didn’t catch any fish, though I’d imagined how great I’d look holding a meter-long fish. Oh well, next time!
For digital nomads, this experience offers a perfect way to disconnect from work and immerse yourself in local culture. It’s also a great story for your travel blog or social media!
In the next post, I’ll tell you about a speedboat trip to coral reefs where coral fish live – another great adventure for when you need a screen break.
Traveler’s Tip for Digital Nomads: Cost of a night fishing ticket: 1200 rubles per person. The tour price includes dinner, fruits, coffee, tea, and drinking water.
Pro Tip: Bring a waterproof case for your phone. You might want to capture some moments, but you don’t want to risk your work device!
