There are many monkey islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Any tourist agency can offer you such an excursion. People generally don’t live on these islands – their inhabitants are thousands of monkeys.
We visited one of these numerous monkey islands on our way back home after visiting the “uninhabited” island. It’s a perfect break for digital nomads looking to disconnect and experience something truly unique!
Following our guide Dot’s advice, we brought fruits for the monkeys. All tourists do this, so when our boat’s bow touched the rocky shore, dozens of monkeys rushed to meet their happiness.
We had quite an experience…
For digital nomads, this encounter offers a stark contrast to our usual screen-focused days. It’s a reminder of the diverse experiences we can have while maintaining our remote work lifestyle.

Traveler’s Tip for Digital Nomads: Safety: Love animals during your travels exclusively from a distance! Avoid contact with monkeys and other animals while traveling. Never feed anything by hand! They can easily bite. In this case, be sure to see a doctor for a course of preventive rabies shots. Rabies without proper treatment is a fatal, incurable disease. Rabies shots are generally very harmful to health. Be careful.
Pro Tip: While exciting, wildlife encounters can pose risks. Always prioritize your health and safety – after all, you need to be in top form to maintain your remote work lifestyle!
Have you had any close encounters with wildlife during your digital nomad journey? Share your stories in the comments! Your fellow digital nomads will be very grateful for any additional useful information.
Remember, being a digital nomad is about experiencing the world while we work. A monkey island excursion is a thrilling way to do just that – but always remember to respect wildlife and prioritize safety!
